Docusate sodium (DSS), a dioctyl ester of sodium sulfosuccinate, is a versatile and effective anionic surfactant. DSS grades can be used in various formulation processes like wet granulation, direct compression, amorphous solid dispersion (spray drying and hot melt extrusion) and nanosuspension. DSS has a low order of toxicity coupled with good stability and compatibility with a wide range of actives.
