Ethylcellulose is a non-ionic ethyl ether of cellulose. It is a water insoluble thermoplastic polymer. Ethylcellulose is soluble in a wide range of organic solvents such as ethanol and isopropanol and is compatible with most other familiar organic solvents including ether alcohols, ketones, aromatic hydrocarbons etc.
