Kaolin USP/NF
Kaolin, or ‘china clay’ is a hydrated aluminum silicate crystalline mineral formed by the hydrothermal decomposition of granite rocks. Calcined Kaolin is an anhydrous aluminum silicate produced by heating ultrafine natural kaolin to high temperatures in kiln. The calcination process increases whiteness and hardness, improves electrical properties, and alters the size and shape of the kaolin particles. Imerys also offer Light Kaolin grade. Kaolin clay products are characterized by their fine particle size, plate-like lamellar particle shape, and chemical inertness. All Imerys’ USP kaolin are natural, pure and chemically inert. These grades serve various applications pertaining to the pharmaceutical and skin care products.
