Kollicoat IR is a polyvinyl alcohol-polyethylene glycol graft copolymer with the addition of colloidal silica. It is a water soluble, film forming agent, ideal for manufacturing instant release coatings for solid dosage forms. It results in low viscosity solutions which offers significant advantages over cellulose derivatives. Due to it’s property of not forming peroxides, it can be a binder of choice for oxygen sensitive actives.
